Farm Project

The use and abuse of animals raised for food far exceed, in sheer numbers of animals affected, any other kind of mistreatment. We are committed to improving the quality of life of these animals and ensuring that those which are slaughtered are handled humanely and compassionately. We inspect facilities where farm animals are kept, used or farmed. Some of the areas covered are intensive farming (including fish farming), draught animals, pounds, export, abattoirs, sale yards, transportation, small scale farmers, complaints, routine inspections and disaster response and assistance. As we strive to change perceptions and legislation, we also undertake to do everything possible to assist animals that are suffering.

Your Support Improves the Lives of Farm Animals:

  • R300 will buy a thermometer to measure the ambient temperature in chicken broiler houses.
  • R500 will buy a pig herding board to move pigs and sheep humanely.
  • R500 will buy a small Tablet for unit members to use in auditing farm animal production facilities.

We prevent cruelty, promote kindness and alleviate the suffering of animals.

Reporting animal cruelty to your local SPCA directly will ensure that the animal is reached faster
