Donkey Upliftment

Donkeys are an integral part of the lives of many members of South African society who rely on these animals essentially for transportation.

This project is designed to improve the lives of people and their working donkeys through harnessing and health workshops, educational school visits and providing primary health care.

A key component of the project is uplifting the welfare of the animals by improving the harnessing used on the animals. The harness used is often makeshift, inappropriate and causes harm and injury. Replacing these with humane harnesses and bits provides major relief for these animals. Training donkey owners how to make humane harnessing and how to handle their animals humanely forms part of the Project’s strategy to improve the lives of these gentle animals.
