The NSPCA is committed to protecting your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

The National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) is a statutory non-profit organisation responsible for the prevention of cruelty to animals in South Africa.
We are the “Responsible Party” in terms of POPIA, meaning we determine how and why your personal information is processed.

We process personal information only where allowed under POPIA, including where:

4.2 It is necessary to perform a contract
4.3 We are legally required to do so
4.4 It is required to carry out our statutory functions
4.5 It is in our legitimate interests, balanced against your rights

By interacting with the NSPCA, you acknowledge that we will process your personal information as described in this Privacy Notice and in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. Where consent is required, it will be requested separately and may be withdrawn at any time.

We only keep personal information for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected or as required by law.

Once no longer required, information is securely destroyed or permanently de-identified.

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

8.4 Withdraw consent where applicable
8.5 Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator
