The NSPCA is pleased to announce that it will be working with the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) to plan the retirement of Charley the elephant from the Pretoria Zoo.

For many years, the NSPCA has been working with SANBI regarding the health and welfare of  Charley. With his retirement, Charley’s life as a captive elephant will now come to an end.

The NSPCA looks forward to continuing our work with SANBI to ensure that Charleys retirement is one that emulates the life of a free elephant.
