NSPCA Inspector examining Sheep

Operation Farm Animal

The use and abuse of animals raised for food far exceed any other kind of mistreatment of animals. We are committed to improving the quality of life of these animals and ensuring that those who are slaughtered are handled humanely and compassionately.

Farm Animal Unit Inspectors inspect facilities where farm animals are kept, used or farmed. Some of the areas covered are intensive farming (including fish farming), draught animals, pounds, export, abattoirs, sale yards, transportation, small scale farmers, complaints, routine inspections and disaster response and assistance.

Inspectors working in the Farm Animal Protection Unit share a simple purpose – to ensure that farm animals are treated kindly. The determined action on behalf of these animals is undertaken daily to bring physical relief to many individuals and progressive change in the farming industry.

Stand with our Inspectors as they strive to change perceptions and legislation and do everything possible to assist farm animals that are suffering.
